Men’s Bible Study Fall 2022

Men’s Bible Study Fall 2022

“Does God really love me? What is my driving purpose in life? How can I get victory over my recurring struggles?” These are the kinds of questions which humans face, and followers of Christ are not immune to them. As men, we have a sense that we should live with confidence and have things put together, but we can feel defeated by the discouragement or uncertainty which arise from our questions.

Truth for the Road is a series of studies we launched last year. Through the studies we learn more about the foundational doctrines of the Bible. Our goal is to consider significant questions such as Who is God? What is humanity’s problem? How can it be fixed? Who is Jesus, and why did He come? What’s so important about the church? However, we’re not going to stay in the realm of the abstract. God’s truth hits us right where we live, so we’re going to see how answers to these questions change our everyday lives. That’s Truth for the Road.

This spring our Truth for the Road study will focus on “Union with Christ.” Why should we care about this reality? What difference does this make on Monday morning? Come and find out. Sign-up for the study in the South Lobby begins on Sunday, February 20, and will continue February 27. Make sure to pick up a notebook for $5, and complete the first week’s work ahead of our first meeting on Thursday, March 3. You can choose to join us on Thursday mornings at 6:15 a.m. or Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. Our study will last six weeks, ending on April 7.

Men’s Retreat 2022

Men’s Retreat 2022

There are a number of lies which our culture feeds us as men. One is that we can do what we want without any ramifications for ourselves or for those around us. Another is that we can disengage from others and have a successful and satisfying life; we can live on our own and be just fine. However, God gives us very different messages in His Word. What we take in undeniably affects what comes out of us. What we take in shapes us and shapes our interactions with everyone we touch.

On Friday and Saturday, February 18-19, we’ll host David Mathis for our biannual men’s retreat. David will explore the theme “Feed” with us. As men God has made us to feed others through our loving leadership, but the only way we can fulfill our God-given roles is if we feed ourselves as God intends.

Men of all ages are invited. We’ll kick off our weekend at the church property on Friday evening with a special dinner, and on Saturday we’ll meet at Look Up Lodge in the beautiful hills of Travelers Rest. Join your brothers for this special time together.

Women’s Bible Study

Women’s Bible Study

All ladies are invited to join our 10-week Bible study based on Jen Wilkin’s study, God of Creation: A Study of Genesis 1-11, beginning Tuesday, February 1. “It all began with the Word. The opening chapters of Genesis teach us fundamental truths about God. We watch Him bring light after darkness, order after chaos, and rest after toil—all through the power of His Word.

Over ten sessions of verse-by-verse study, we will dive into Genesis 1-11 by following three critical stages of understanding: comprehension, interpretation, and application. Revisit familiar stories and historical figures, challenge your basic knowledge, and discover deeper meanings in the text. As God reveals Himself through Scripture, we can only begin to understand ourselves when we first glimpse the character, attributes, and promises of our Creator.”

We will meet at Heritage each Tuesday morning at 9:15 a.m. or Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m., February 1 – April 5. This is a wonderful opportunity to not only study God’s Word, but to build deeper relationships with your HBC sisters. All ladies, middle school age and above, are welcome to participate. Childcare will be available in the mornings only for children ages 0-5. Sign-up in the South Lobby beginning Sunday, January 16; the cost is $16. Come study with us!

Trunk or Treat – Oct. 29

Trunk or Treat – Oct. 29

We are excited to be able to host Trunk or Treat again this year on Friday, October 29. If you live in our community, we invite you to join us! In addition to lots of trunks with free candy, there will be free hot dogs and magic shows at 6:30, 7:00, and 7:30 p.m.

Heritage family, in the past, we have had big crowds, so let’s be eager in opening our hearts and arms to people from all over our community. Every member of is encouraged to participate in several ways.

  1. Pray. Ask our Father and God to open doors for the Gospel. Ask Him to give us eternally significant conversations with people who are searching for joy and purpose and meaning—people who need a Savior.
  2. Plan a “Trunk.” Start thinking about some creative design ideas, and sign up in the North Lobby this Sunday. Our goal is to have 50 decorated trunks in our parking lot this year.
  3. Donate candy. Whether or not you are able to participate in Trunk or Treat on October 29, you can contribute to our church’s community outreach by donating candy. Buy wrapped fall candy and bring it to church; we need lots and lots! Drop it off at the display in the North Lobby.

In past years we’ve seen more people come onto our property and interact with us through Trunk or Treat than through any other event. This is a creative way that we can reach out into our community and communicate our love and care for people. We don’t know how our God may work, but may Christ use our efforts to bring us into contact with seekers who need the Savior!

Men’s Bible Study 2021

Men’s Bible Study 2021

In a world with so many conflicting opinions and ideas, how do we know a path forward? How do we know how to live as godly men in our world? James’ short letter in the New Testament provides us with snapshots of true faith in action, and we’ll study it together in our Fall Men’s Bible Study.

Join us for six weeks as we sing, read, discuss, and pray. We’ll gather on Thursdays from September 23 to October 28, and you can participate in the morning session at 6:15 a.m. or the evening session at 7:00 p.m. Sign-up begins on Sunday, September 12, so make sure to stop by the table in the church lobby to pay for and pick up your study book. The cost for this study is $7.
