They Glorified God

Acts 21:17-20

About the Sermon

What is the deepest and most durable motive for global missions? That’s the question we want to answer from Scripture through this sermon. We’ll do this by taking a close-up look at a significant moment in the book of Acts. In Acts 21:17–21, the Apostle Paul returns to Jerusalem from his third and final missionary journey. There he recounts one by one the things God had done. Our answer to our framing question will come in the response of the church to this report.

About the Series

The book of Acts of the story of Jesus’ continuing work in the world by his Spirit. This is how the Spirit decided to show us what the mission looks like. It sets the trajectory for the church theologically and geographically. In this short series we explore four texts to answer four questions about the church’s global mission: where are we to go? What is our message? Who is involved in this work? Why would we risk all for this cause? In this way, this series will add clarity and specificity to our church’s mission statement, “to spread the unsearchable riches of Christ broader in the world and deeper in the church.”
