My Chosen Portion

God is the inheritance of his people if they take refuge in him. Psalm 16 reassures the saints that they can dwell securely through the hardships and dangers of life because God is always near. God is faithful to preserve his people in every present trouble and lead us to pleasures forevermore. Through this Psalm we rejoice together that God is our portion and we belong in his presence.
The Folly of the Cross and the Power of God

As Christians we will never cease to marvel at all that Christ accomplished through his death upon cross. While the soldiers and bystanders looked upon him as he hung there beaten, bruised, and dying, they saw a Messiah who was weak, helpless, and defeated. But in his wisdom, God used the death of his Son to reveal his power over death––so that in him we may have life. From 1 Corinthians 1:17-21 we see that the weakness of the cross, which is folly to the world, is truly the power of God.
Light and Life in the Word of God

Among the most central questions in the Christian life is this: What exactly do you believe about the Bible? Whether you’ve been reading the Bible regularly for decades, or have just begun to develop the spiritual habit, what you believe about the Scriptures will determine what you profit from reading them. In Psalm 119:105-112 we will see the example of the Psalmist, who shows us that the Bible is more than words on a page. It’s light shining on our path, life in the face of death, and the joy of our hearts, forever.
