Expositional Workshops
Spring training for the church’s primary teachers and preachers
To increase the health of the church in our region by investing in those who handle the Bible week-in and week-out.
We believe that the church’s health hangs on the faithfulness of those who regularly handle the Bible, and especially her regular Lord’s Day preachers. Charles Simeon, a nineteenth century trainer of preachers in Cambridge, famously wrote, “My endeavour is to bring out of Scripture what is there, and not to thrust in what I think might be there. I have a great jealousy on this head; never to speak more or less than I believe to be the mind of the Spirit in the passage I am expounding.”
Spring Training
Workshops work the fundamentals of biblical exposition through: instructional sessions, model expositions, and small group discussion.
Making Progress
At these workshops, we do not aim for a perfect interpretation, but for each person to make some progress in their work.
For Men and Women who Regularly Teach
Workshops aim to equip men and women who regularly handle the Word for their complementary roles within the church.
Opportunities
Annual Workshop for Men
Each year, typically in January, we host the Greenville Expositional Workshop. For this three-day workshop, area preachers gather to grow in their confidence and competence in handling God’s Word.
Annual Workshop for Women
Each fall we host an expositional workshop for women at Heritage Bible Church. This is for women in our region who are studying to teach on a weekly basis.
The Simeon Course
For those who cannot attend a workshop, or who may not fit the target participant, online courses are an exceptional opportunity.
