What Does Resurrection Sunday Do?

1 Peter 1:20-25

About the Sermon

What does the resurrection actually do? Christians down the ages have confessed faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. We believe that it happened and that this truth is precious. But when the writers of our New Testament letters bring up the resurrection, surely they want us to believe it. But that is not the more specific purpose they have in bringing it up. They assume that we believe in the resurrection and then they apply the resurrection to our lives and to our life together as a church. That's what Peter does in his first letter to first century Christians. Listen in and hear the good news of the ressurected Christ.

About the Series

What does Good Friday do? What does Resurrection Sunday do? Christians down the ages have confessed faith in the crucified and risen Christ. We believe that the death and resurrection happened and that this truth is precious. But when the Apostle Peter speaks of these events, he speaks to those who already believe them. Why then does he write? He writes to show how the death and resurrection of Christ change all of life and our life together as a church. In this short series we consider two passages from 1 Peter 1 in order to live in light of the death and resurrection of Christ.
