“Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time.” God rescued the rebellious, unrepentant prophet in dramatic fashion. And though the story continues, it also returns to where it first began. God, again, sends Jonah with a message for the people of Nineveh. This time he obeys. The people of Nineveh respond with repentance, and God relents of his judgment. But neither Jonah nor Nineveh deserve praise; no, the glory for this great act of mercy belongs to God alone. In Jonah 3, the mercy of God comes to Nineveh. Read the story to see God’s word in action as mercy comes to repentant sinners.

Our next Family Meeting is just over a week away on Sunday, July 27, at 4:30 p.m. We will continue to rejoice in the Lord’s work at our church in the past 50 years by hearing about Heritage in the 80s. We also look forward to welcoming new members and hearing a few other ministry updates. In addition, members will be asked to affirm Chris Gerber for another two-year term as elder and Chad Asire as a new elder.
As is our tradition, at the close of the meeting we will fellowship together around a meal. Due to the heat of July, this month’s meal theme is cold cuisine. Each family is asked to bring at least one dish to share. Think salads, sandwiches, wraps, cold meats, or anything you don’t have to turn your oven on to prepare. Please bring plenty for your family, plus enough to share! In keeping with the theme, Heritage will provide ice cream treats and popsicles for dessert. We look forward to a great evening of food and fellowship!
