Our culture tells men to construct their own identity. “Prove your worth” they say, asking us to measure ourselves by ever-shifting definitions of what a “real man” should be. Ephesians tells a better story. Before commanding husbands, fathers, and leaders, Paul grounds men in their identity as sons united to Christ.
The Son’s standing before the Father reorients the whole of life under pressure. Strength in the Christian life is not self-generated; it is participation in the Son’s own life.
Heritage men are invited to join us this spring for this timely message in our current cultural moment. We’ll head up to the beautiful hills of Travelers Rest, Friday, April 17 to Saturday, April 18, for our church’s overnight Men’s Retreat at Look Up Lodge. Acclaimed author, teacher, and former Heritage Bible Church elder, Dan Cruver, will faithfully instruct us over three sessions on how we can take strength in knowing our identity is first and foremost “in Christ.”
We encourage Heritage men of all ages, including boys middle school and older, to join us on this retreat as we receive instruction in God’s word concerning this urgent topic. We will kick off our time with dinner at Look Up Lodge at 6:00 p.m. Friday night and will end official activities at 5:00 p.m. Saturday.
The registration fee will include:
1) Overnight accommodations at Look Up Lodge
2) Three meals (dinner Friday night, breakfast and lunch on Saturday)
3) Three teaching sessions with Dan Cruver
4) Use of Look Up Lodge’s land and activities
5) A copy of Crossway’s Ephesians Scripture Journal: Study Edition.
Cost for the retreat is $95, and registration ends on April 3.
We look forward to having you as part of this time of learning from God’s Word and Christian fellowship with one another.
