The purpose of our electives is to engage and equip the people of our church with the Word for the roles God has given them. The classes survey a variety of doctrines or topics, helping us to grow in our walk with Jesus and in our relationships with each other. We’re eager to dive into these studies with you.
During the adult Electives, children, middle school, and high school students meet according to their grades.

Overview: You’re almost there. The “Bible in a Year” reading plan is almost complete with one more mountain to climb: Revelation. At first glance, it appears steep. We either grunt through it as we go through the motions or decide not to do it altogether. It’s too tough. It’s too weird! The only way I’ll understand this book is if I go to seminary. These are things we tell ourselves. . . but they’re not true! It is tough, but not too tough. It is sometimes weird, but not too weird. Join us for this class before you take on Revelation as we learn tools and skills to help us understand God’s Word in this crucial part of his redemptive story. We pray you leave with confidence to not only understand but share the gospel from Revelation with a lost and dying world.

Overview: The Bible starts in a garden. A place where the dwelling place of God is with man. The paradise is short-lived as man falls and his relationship with God is severed. God graciously provides means of his presence so his people can do what they were designed to do; worship him. The perfect means of his presence shows up in his Son, the Lord Jesus, and he seals the victory for his people as he promises to one day return for his own. This is the Bible’s story. This class will look at how it ends. Join us as we consider look to how we are already there…but not yet there. We’ll look at different views of how these things come about with the goal of seeing the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ as he establishes the final, perfected, and complete way that “the dwelling place of God is with man.” We pray you’ll be strengthened in your faith and look to the return of your Lord!

Overview: Our Confession of Faith states that the Scriptures are “the final authority for faith and practice, inerrant and infallible in the original writings.” We also confess, “the canon of Scripture is closed, we do not believe in any form of continuing special revelation.” The questions that naturally follow are, “Why do we believe this and how did we get there?” Join us for this class as we look first and foremost internally to the Bible itself and then externally to evidence that leads us to our conclusions. We pray you leave strengthened with the Bible in your hands as you rely on it for your faith and practice.

Overview: What is worship? How should I worship? How should we worship? Are those different or the same? What is a liturgy? Isn’t that an outdated idea? These are big questions that demand we draw our answers from Scripture. People were created to worship God and we come together every Lord’s Day to worship corporately as his people. Join us for this 6-week course as we look to the Scripture and the Church’s history to answer the question we put at the fore. We pray you’ll leave with a solid answer from God’s Word and a genuine understanding of the gathered church here at Heritage on the Lord’s Day!

Overview: Our Lord Jesus commanded disciples to be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Baptism is a beautiful, public profession of one’s faith in the Gospel and their inclusion in the Church. It’s also the way the church publicly identifies the disciples she makes in obedience to Jesus. If you have believed in Jesus and need to be baptized—or if you just want to learn more about what we believe about baptism—the Baptism Class is for you. In this class we will answer three questions: What is baptism? Who should be baptized? How do we practice baptism at Heritage? You’ll be given helpful resources and spend time with a Heritage pastor to learn about baptism and next steps for getting baptized at Heritage.
